Edgar Cayce on the Akashic Records – The Book of Life

 “For more than forty years of his adult life, Edgar Cayce was able to put himself into some kind of trance state and provide individuals with accurate information, called readings, in response to virtually any question. In this state he was able to perceive a source of information which he called the Akashic Records”.

It was while being connected to these records that all manner of information became available to him. Also called the ‘Book of Life’, this source was the compilation of every thought, word and deed that had occurred in space and time since the dawn of creation. And it enabled Cayce to give insights into an individual’s mission in life or a long-standing problem.

Rather than being simply a place, the readings emphasized that these records are everywhere. Everything from an individual’s qualities and imperfections to past lives and present conditions were somehow accessible. These same records were accessible by the subconscious mind, through dreams, through reveries, and through esoteric exercises.

Not only do the Akashic Records store, track and compile everything about every person in the history of the world, but they continually attempt to guide, educate and transform everyone to eventually become the very best that they can be.

Unfortunately rather than seeing that individuals are very much ‘cocreators’ in the unfoldment of their life journeys, too often reincarnation has been misinterpreted as a fatalistic journey, through experiences and relationships that belong to an individual because of her or his karma. With this approach, choices made in the past have somehow etched in stone the future and life is simply a process of going through the motions. This is definitely not the Cayce approach to reincarnation and karma in which each lifetime is one of nearly limitless opportunities. From his perspective, individuals are very much active participants in their life journeys and not simply sometime – reluctant observers.
