Why are you so negative at times
John
Assaraf
Where does the negativity comes
from?
We are biologically wired to be
negative first.
Evolution - Negativity necessary
for protection and preservation of species
Amygdala, the fear centre in
brain is the filtering system used for protection from danger
Brain always looks for and find
whatever is harmful to us physically or emotionally
Brings into consciousness any
real or imagined danger
Two parts of Brain
Frankenstein Brain (FB)
Einstein Brain (EB)
It leads to negative self talk
and negative self beliefs about capabilities. This part of brain that focuses
on negativity is Frankenstein Brain (FB) - Right Prefrontal Cortex
There is another part of brain
Einstein Brain (EB) responsible for creativity focused on positivity - Left
Prefrontal Cortex
The key is to deactivate FB and
activate EB
Innercise
·
Choose a Goal
·
Focus on FB and write down why you cannot achieve your goals. All
the negative thoughts and beliefs will come out.
·
Focus on EB and write down what you can do to achieve your goals.
Even if you don't know how to do it right now, focus on how part will activate
EB and soon you will be flooded with creative ideas.
At any given time only one of
these can function. If FB is active EB is not and vice versa.
Whenever negativity takes over
your mind it means FB is dominating. Be aware. Focus on EB. Put all your
attention on it. Activate it. Once it gets activated FB will automatically
deactivate.
Frankenstein Brain (FB) or Einstein Brain (EB) which part of the
brain is activated in your life right now?
