Desire Success? Start Asking Dumb Questions

Chris Sacca is very good at asking dumb questions, says Tim Ferriss – and Ferriss means it as a compliment. Years ago, Sacca got an entry-level job at Google and invited himself along to executive meetings where, once people got used to his strange presence, he started asking dumb questions, chiming in with the obvious things that no one was bringing up. “He's created some incredible breakthroughs in investing as a result of that,” says Ferriss.

In a world where everyone is afraid of looking stupid, a lot of basic improvements and ideas get missed for fear of embarrassment. Through several anecdotes amassed during the writing of his new book Tools of Titans, Ferriss makes a case for being more intellectually secure in yourself so that you can raise your hand without fear, ask a dumb question, and actually become smarter. And in Sacca's case, wealthier.

Mary's Room: A philosophical thought experiment - Eleanor Nelsen

Imagine a neuroscientist who has only ever seen black and white things, but she is an expert in color vision and knows everything about its physics and biology. If, one day, she sees color, does she learn anything new? Is there anything about perceiving color that wasn’t captured in her knowledge? Eleanor Nelsen explains what this thought experiment can teach us about experience.

Be Your Own Saviour

Be Patient

Be Silent

Be There for Someone Who Need You

The on-duty nurse took the anxious young Army Major to the bedside.

"Your son is here," she said softly, to the old man lying there on the bed.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Major standing outside the oxygen tent.

He reached out his hand.

The Major wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse, observing the touching moments, brought a chair so that the Major could sit beside the bed.

"Thank you Ma'am!" a polite acknowledgement followed.

All through the night, the young Major sat there in the poorly lit ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the officer move away and rest awhile.

He graciously refused.

Whenever the nurse came into the ward, he was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Major released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse.

While she did what she had to do, he waited...

Finally, she returned &  started to offer words of sympathy, but the Major interrupted her
.
.
.
.
.

"Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Major replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here!"

The nurse listened on, confused.

"When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

"So then what was the purpose of your visit here, at the hospital, Sir?",  the nurse queried of him.

"I came here tonight to find a Mr. Vikram Salaria. His son was Killed in J&K last night, and I was sent to inform him."

'But the man whose hand you kept holding whole night was Mr. Vikram Salaria!'

They stood in complete silence. There couldn't be anything more assuring for a dying man than his son's hand!

The next time someone needs you ... just be there! & Just stay!!!

WE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE...

WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY HUMAN EXPERIENCE...

Stay Motivated

How to stay motivated ?

In the jungle which animal is the biggest ........

I heard you say, Elephant.

In the jungle which animal is the tallest ........

I heard you say, Giraffe.

In the jungle which animal is the wisest ........

I heard you say, Fox.

In the jungle which animal is the fastest ........

I heard you say, Cheetahs.

Among all these wonderful qualities mentioned, where is the Lion in the picture.?

Yet, you say the Lion is the KING of the jungle even without ANY of these qualities.!!

Why??

Because...

The Lion is courageous,

The Lion is very bold,

The Lion is always ready to face any challenges, any barrier that crosses his path, no matter how big/bad they are.!!

The Lion walks with confidence. The Lion dares anything and is never afraid. The Lion believes he is unstoppable. The Lion is a risk taker. The Lion believes any animal is food for him. The Lion believes any opportunity is worth giving a try and never lets it slip from his hands. The Lion has charisma.!!

So...

- What is it that we get to learn from the Lion ??

• You don't need to be the fastest.

• You don't need to be the wisest.

• You don't need to be the smartest.

• You don't need to be the most brilliant.

• You don't need to be generally accepted to achieve your dreams and be great in life.!!

• All you need is courage

• All you need is boldness

• All you need is the will to try.

• All you need is the faith to believe it is possible.

• All you need is to believe in yourself, that you can do it.!!

It's TIME to bring out the Lion in you..!!

Stay motivated.

The 3 Most Important Questions to Ask Yourself

Discover the 10 unconventional laws that all extraordinary people live by in Vishen Lakhiani's new book, "The Code of the Extraordinary Mind: 10 Unconventional Laws to Redefine Your Life and Succeed On Your Own Terms". You can get access to the book and additional bonus content here: http://bit.ly/1WVUv0M

In this video, we are going to change the way you think about goal setting. We are going to present to you the 3 most important questions to ask yourself. You can learn more from Vishen in his Consciousness Engineering program: http://bit.ly/1FFl6eU

Over the years, I've come to stop believing in goal setting. Why? Because goal setting, or at least the way most of us are trained to do it, actually gets us to be obsessed about the how of attaining our goals, rather than the passion, the vision, and the beauty of the goal itself. In short, we get obsessed with the 'means', rather than the 'end'.
And this is why so many of us wake up at the age of 40 one day, dreading going to work because we were forced to pick a career before we could legally buy a beer.

If everyone asked themselves these questions at the age of 18, we believe the world would be a much happier place. But no matter how old you are, it's not too late.

This exercise will change the way you plan your life and see your goals. It'll change the way you see your career, mission, and life purpose unfolding. The intro to the exercise takes no more than 5 minutes, and the exercise itself takes 7 minutes. This could be one of the most important 12 minutes of your life.

What is a Divided Life - Parker J. Palmer

Do you want to show up in the world with more of your true values and gifts, connecting with others in authentic ways? Hear from our founder, Parker J. Palmer, in this short introduction to the vision of the Courage & Renewal approach. Parker talks about how as human beings we are born whole, integral, with no distinction between what's going on inside of us and what's going on outside. As adults we may ask, "Whatever happened to me? How did I lose that capacity to be here as I really am?" We have to find a way to build a bridge between our identity and integrity as adults and the work that we do in the world.

Randy Pausch Last Lecture - Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

The Art of the Imperfect

Embrace the shake

Artist Phil Hansen uses unique media (his torso, x-rays, a tricycle...) to create his version of meta-art, videos that document the creation process -- showing that art is action, not just result.

In art school, Phil Hansen developed an unruly tremor in his hand that kept him from creating the pointillist drawings he loved. Hansen was devastated, floating without a sense of purpose. Until a neurologist made a simple suggestion: embrace this limitation ... and transcend it.

Empathy Is Overrated – Try Compassion Instead

Yale psychologist Paul Bloom’s latest book is called Against Empathy, which doesn’t leave you guessing where he stands. Bloom argues that empathy is doing us damage – there is a place for it, but not so high up on society’s pedestal. Empathy can cloud our decision-making, and bring us too close to problems that require action rather than commiserations. Realizing that begs the question: in a world with less empathy, how do we connect and help our fellow humans?

Bloom is banking on compassion, and makes a distinction between the two that transcends semantics: empathy is feeling what other people feel, imagining their predicament, echoing their emotional state. Compassion is more rational: you hear the other person’s predicament but you don’t feel their emotion – this frees you up to understand it, and to make headway on a solution. Bloom likens it to seeing a doctor or a therapist. Do you want them to feel and echo your pain or anxiety, or would prefer that they do something about it? If empathy is as overrated as Bloom suggests, then compassion may be the better way to show you care. Paul Bloom is the author of Against Empathy: The Case for Rational Compassion.

Goals vs. Systems

James Clear
We all have things that we want to achieve in our lives — getting into the better shape, building a successful business, raising a wonderful family, writing a best-selling book, winning a championship, and so on.
And for most of us, the path to those things starts by setting a specific and actionable goal. At least, this is how I approached my life until recently. I would set goals for classes I took, for weights that I wanted to lift in the gym, and for clients I wanted in my business.
What I'm starting to realize, however, is that when it comes to actually getting things done and making progress in the areas that are important to you, there is a much better way to do things.
It all comes down to the difference between goals and systems.

Let me explain.

The Difference Between Goals and Systems

What's the difference between goals and systems?
  • If you're a coach, your goal is to win a championship. Your system is what your team does at practice each day.
  • If you're a writer, your goal is to write a book. Your system is the writing schedule that you follow each week.
  • If you're a runner, your goal is to run a marathon. Your system is your training schedule for the month.
  • If you're an entrepreneur, your goal is to build a million dollar business. Your system is your sales and marketing process.
