Mindfulness involves six neuro-psychological processes that lead to a person's meditative state of self-awareness:

- Pro-Social Behaviour - A sense of Empathy for others
- Intention & Motivation - To achieve Mindfulness
- Emotion Regulation
- Non-Attachment & Decentering - Letting go of Ego
- Extinction & Reconsolidation - Changing Behaviours or Attitudes
